Licensed Social Worker / Lead Clinician needed for a mental health and substance abuse institution.

Pay Rate: $135,000 – 140,000 annually + Client Benefits 
Location: Onsite in Groton, CT 
Employment Type: Direct Hire 
Schedule: Full-time

The origin of our client’s facility dates way back to 1945 when it first started out as a farm with a beautiful orchard and has since blossomed into an detox and mental health support institution. Skip forward to 1957 when the owners sold the farm to two determined hospital administrators who introduced the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous to the local community. 

As the Lead Clinician, you will be responsible for intake bio/psycho/social assessments including assessment of problem/symptom severity, assessment of psychiatric status, assessment of the appropriateness of level of care; discharge needs assessments, recommendations for primary clinician assignments, and assistance with client orientation.  In addition, you will conduct follow up assessments and facilitate Counseling and psycho-education and spirituality groups as needed.

  • Assess candidates for admission for appropriateness of PHP level of care. 

  • Conduct baseline psychiatric assessments for incoming adult clients including mental status and suicidality. 

  • Perform co-occurring disorders screening. 

  • Complete discharge needs assessments. 

  • Identify initial problems; list issues. 

  • Provide DSM-IV diagnosis.  

  • Assess need for psychiatric consultation and arrange for consultations. 

  • Provide recommendations for primary clinician assignments for all new clients admitted to Partial Hospital/Intensive Outpatient Programs. 

  • Communicate assessment findings and treatment recommendations to clinical staff. 

  • Coordinate follow-up assessments and input assessment data. 

  • Participate in program development based on assessment data.  

  • Assist, as necessary, with new client orientation activities. 

  • Provide communication and feedback to other team members as part of joint treatment planning, UR, and client management. 

  • Relay UR, insurance, and other administrative information to requesting sources. 

  • Complete all documentation required by State and Accrediting Agencies. 

  • Develop a continuing education and supervision plan with immediate supervisor. 

  • Participate in conferences, meetings, and continuing education programs as appropriate. 

  • Facilitate psycho-education and spirituality groups across a broad range of recovery topics. 

  • Conduct pre-certification review to receive initial authorization of admission.  Coordinate with multi-disciplinary team in order to obtain pertinent clinical information.  Present this information to insurances and receive authorization for continued treatment 

  • Other duties as deemed necessary. 

Experience and education we’ll be looking for. 

  • Master’s Degree from an Accredited School of Social Work or Counseling 

  • CADC Accreditation or Independent License Preferred 

  • One Year Substance Abuse Counseling Experience Preferred
