Forensics Clinician needed for a private, nonsectarian, not-for-profit behavioral healthcare organization.

As a Forensics Clinician, you will play a pivotal role in providing mental health services within our detention center setting. Your responsibilities will include conducting intakes, providing therapeutic interventions, and collaborating with the Forensics Director to ensure effective delivery of services. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on individuals within the justice system and contribute to their overall well-being.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct intake assessments to determine individuals' mental health needs upon entry into the detention center.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions and mental health support to individuals within the detention center environment.
  • Collaborate closely with the Forensics Director to debrief on cases, discuss treatment plans, and ensure alignment with program objectives.
  • Conduct visits to individual pods or “the Floor” to meet with individuals requiring mental health services, following a predetermined list or addressing urgent needs identified by staff.
  • Work closely with intake nurses in the medical unit to coordinate mental health services for incoming individuals and ensure holistic care.
  • Complete documentation and maintain accurate records of interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes in a timely manner.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to enhance clinical skills and knowledge of relevant practices and procedures.
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards in all interactions and interventions with individuals in the justice system.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect individual rights while providing mental health services in a secure environment.
  • Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Requirements:

  • Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) preferred, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with an Associate's degree accepted.
  • Experience working in forensic mental health or similar settings is desirable but not required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with individuals in challenging circumstances.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality mental health services.
  • Flexibility to work Monday to Friday, 8-4, with occasional adjustments as needed to accommodate program requirements.
