Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and processing payment of invoices to vendors, reimbursements to employees and non-employees and travel advances in accordance with Financial and Governmental Accounting principles, State and City policies and regulations.
  • Research, resolve and respond to Vendor, Employee and Project Manager inquiries regarding account status; investigate and resolve problems associated with invoice processing and communicate resolution of discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
  • Effectively use complex integrated business applications, financial accounting systems, MS Excel and word to create and maintain financial documentation.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively both verbally and in writing across multiple diverse departments, management levels, vendors and other non-financial departments.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with suppliers, purchasing staff and other employees, including managers and supervisors.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to solve problems.
  • Reconcile supplier accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain vendor invoice files, support annual financial audit and perform other duties as assigned within the Division.


Qualifications

  • High level of customer service, technical and interpersonal skills required to navigate through complex, unusual or irregular work situations.
  • Associates degree in accounting, business, public administration, or related field and or five years of equivalent experience. Public sector experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting and auditing practices and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Advanced skills in office software applications; word processing, excel, database and email.
